MetLife has persuaded
Morningstar to apply its data filters -- and consumer brand name -- to a new lineup of variable annuities that the Chicago-based securities data company initially screened. The MetLife alliance is Morningstar's first time screening funds for VAs, according to a MetLife spokesperson.
"Although this has been in the works for months," said the spokesperson, "when we approached Morningstar, they showed immediate interest."
Currently offering investors 16 options, the VA lineup is expected to expand to 20 by the end of the year. Available funds currently consist of the following:
- Davis Venture Value
- Harris Oakmark Mid Cap Value
- Janus Aggressive Growth
- Lord Abbett Bond Debenture
- Lord Abbett Growth and Income
- Met/Putnam Research
- MFS Mid Cap Growth
- MFS Research International
- Oppenheimer Capital Appreciation
- PIMCO Innovation
- PIMCO Total Return
- PIMCO Money Market
