Odd Lots, Feb. 17, 1999

Reported by Sean Hanna, Editor in Chief

Fidelity is losing its online talent to rivals, claims today's On State Street column in the Boston Herald. The latest to depart is David Tyrie, who was senior vice president in charge of on-line brokerage and mutual fund transactions. He is now at Putnam Investments. Tyrie replaced Stephan Killeen when Killeen left Fidelity to join Raging Bull last month. Tyrie is now senior vice president in charge of "channel development," at Putnam. Part of his job will be developing Internet services for investors and brokers.

Kimberly Seals McDonald in The New York Post reports that the first fund from E*Trade's new family will be a S&P 500 index. The fund will be launched next week and be subadvised by Barclays Global Fund Advisors.
