Franklin Resources of San Mateo, California recently created an office of the president and appointed two of chief executive,
Charles Johnson's sons, as well as the company chief financial officer
Martin Flanagan, and cio
Allen Gula to the office.
The younger son,
Greg Johnson, 38, was moved up from the position of president of the company's distribution arm, Franklin Templeton Distributors Inc. to co-president and head of the U.S. retail and institutional business.
In order to fill Greg Johnson's position, the company has promoted two executives within Franklin Distributors.
Peter Jones, 44, will take on the role of president, overseeing the sales division and
Daniel O'Lear, 38, will expand his role as director of sales for the wirehouse/regional division to also include the financial advisor division.
"Peter Jones and Dan O'Lear have made significant contributions to our sales efforts and bring a great deal of experience to their new positions," said Greg Johnson. "The next several months will be a period of transition. Peter and Dan will continue to be very involved with their current customers and responsibilities during this time."
Jones has spent the last three years as executive vice president and director of sales for the financial advisor division. Prior to joining Franklin Templeton in 1989, Jones was president of
IDEX Distributors for the initial formation of the IDEX Group of Funds.
Dan O'Lear served as executive vice president and director
of sales for the wirehouse/regional division since 1997 and as a
national sales manager before that. Prior to joining Franklin
Templeton in 1996, he was senior vice president and national accounts manager for
Kemper Funds.
