Avi Nachmany EVP, Director of Research, Strategic Insight

Strategic Insight entered a new chapter this summer when, after more than a year of searching, it found a buyer in Asset International. Avi Nachmany, who co-founded the New York City-based fund research and consulting firm with Joel Rosenthal in 1986, and the rest of the staff are staying on; Rosenthal, for his part, has retired.

The deal makes Strategic Insight -- known for its monthly snapshot of the fund industry, Simfund database and Simfund Filing service -- part of the family that includes retirement industry-focused publications such as PlanSponsor and PlanAdviser magazines, and gives it access to deeper pockets. Asset International is controlled by private equity firm Austin Ventures. Strategic Insight plans to set up shop in London early next year and Asia in the latter part of the year.

Nachmany grew up in a farming village in Israel and took up chemistry at Tel Aviv University before heading to New York. He started Strategic Insight a year after obtaining his MBA from New York University's Stern School of Business.
