Northern Trust Global Advisors Hires Sprint Vet

Northern Trust Global Advisors (NTGA) has tapped Dennis Piper as senior vice president and senior investment program manager. The position is new, according to Northern Trust spokesperson Alexis Geocaris. Piper reports to David Dykstra, executive vice president and practice leader of investment program solutions for Chicago-based NTGA. Prior to joining NTGA, Piper spent 16 years at Sprint Corporation, where he was most recently vice president of finance, responsible for all treasury-related activity including long-term financing, financial risk management, and the company's pension trust. Earlier, he was with The Pillsbury Company for 11 years, occupying roles including director of corporate investment analysis and international group controller.


CHICAGO, October 31, 2007 – Northern Trust announced today that Dennis C. Piper has joined its manager-of-managers subsidiary, Northern Trust Global Advisors, Inc. (NTGA), as a senior vice president and senior investment program manager. A former financial executive at Sprint Corporation and The Pillsbury Company and former U.S. Army officer, Piper will design, implement and oversee investment programs for institutional clients.

Dykstra, executive vice president and practice leader, Investment Program Solutions for NTGA. “Our institutional investment program managers serve as extensions of our clients’ staffs, and Dennis will bring a wealth of experience in corporate pensions and finance to bear in creating solutions for a variety of institutional clients.”

Prior to joining Northern Trust, Piper was vice president, finance of Sprint Corporation, where he was responsible for all treasury-related activity including long-term financing, financial risk management, cash management, short-term borrowing/investing, bank and rating agency relationships, and the firm’s Pension Trust. Prior to his 16 years at Sprint, Piper spent 11 years at The Pillsbury Company in various roles, including director of corporate investment analysis, international group controller, and director of planning for the International Foods division.

Piper holds a B.S. in Applied Science and Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy, West Point. After serving as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army for five years, he earned his MBA in Finance from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
