Reported by Erin Kello

kasina and Dalbar both released the results of financial intermediary website rankings today. kasina's rankings are for the year; Dalbar's are for the third quarter.

kasina's top 10 in order are (ties are accounted for in the rankings):

1. American Funds (70)
1. Franklin Templeton Investments (70)
3. MFS Investment Management (67)
3. Putnam Investments (67)
5. OppenheimerFunds (66)
6. John Hancock Funds (64)
7. Fidelity Investments Institutional Services (63)
8. BlackRock (59)

The web rankings were based on a three part analysis, quality (50 percent of the score), availability (30 percent of score) and user experience (20 percent of score), for a possible total of 100.

"This was a year in which the industry leaders continued to improve across all of the major categories we examined,” Conrad Bakker, a consultant at kasina, said in a release. “While many of the winners will be familiar to long-time followers of our Top 10 list, a visiting advisor will find these Web sites to have changed significantly, with new functions and information, higher levels of integration, and improved navigation."

Dalbar's top 10 include:

1. OppenheimerFunds
2. Mainstay Investments
3. Lincoln Financial
4. Putnam
5. Thrivent Financial
6. AIM
7. American Funds
8. MFS
9. Franklin Templeton
10. BlackRock

Both kasina and Dalbar noted a significant increase in the viability of BlackRock's website, which was recently updated. The improved website now includes new product information, an innovative new search engine, and also leverages a relationship with DST Vision, which allows advisors to access and manage client accounts.
