Company Press Release

Dechert LLP announced today that Christopher P. Harvey has joined the firm as a partner in the financial services group. Harvey, who will be resident in the firm's Boston office, was previously a partner and co-chair of the investment management practice group at WilmerHale.

"With his broad experience, Chris is a terrific addition to our top-ranked financial services practice. Chris, who enjoys a high industry profile, will further enhance our brand as an industry leader in the representation of financial services firms," said Dechert Chairman Barton J. Winokur.

"Dechert's highly regarded financial services practice is the perfect venue for me to counsel financial services firms as they face a very challenging business and regulatory environment," Harvey said.

Harvey focuses his practice on the investment management industry, working with major investment managers and other financial institutions and with independent mutual fund directors. He has extensive experience with all sectors of the U.S. market, including SEC-registered open- and closed-end funds, private funds, hedge funds, and separate managed accounts.

"Chris wins high marks as a very talented and experienced lawyer assisting prominent financial services firms on U.S. and international regulatory matters. We are excited to have him join our team in Boston," said Joseph R. Fleming, co-chair of the financial services group.

Harvey, who has been recognized as a leader in hedge and mutual funds and investment funds (registered funds) in the 2007, 2008, and 2009 editions of Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business, also counsels investment advisers and broker-dealers on a variety of corporate and securities matters.

"Chris has a well-deserved reputation as a leading investment funds lawyer," said Robert W. Helm, deputy chairman of the firm. "He brings years of experience and greatly enhances our ability to serve our clients."

Licensed to practice in Massachusetts, Harvey is a graduate of Boston College (B.A., summa cum laude, 1983) and Boston College Law School (J.D., magna cum laude, 1986).

International law firm Dechert LLP has top-ranked practices in corporate and securities, complex litigation, finance and real estate, and financial services and asset management. The firm has more than 130 financial services lawyers in the U. S., Europe, and Asia who advise on a full spectrum of legal services, including fund formation and offerings; investment company and investment adviser regulation; broker-dealer regulation; bank regulation (including common and collective trust funds); insurance production regulation; derivatives regulation; tax structuring; and securities enforcement and litigation. The Legal 500 has cited the firm's "market-leading reputation for hedge funds," while CogentHedge named Dechert one of the top three onshore legal advisers globally serving hedge funds. Chambers USA and Chambers UK ranked Dechert No. 1 for investment management in 2008, placing the firm in the top tier of investment management practices for the fourth year in a row.
