Insurers Place Blame
A number of insurance companies are charging that J.P. Morgan Chase of creating loans which were actually trades in assisting Enron, according to an article in The New York Times. J.P. Morgan has sued 11 insurance companies for declining to honor its $1 billion in claims concerning its relationship with Enron. J.P. Morgan argues that there is nothing unusual about its transactions with Enron.

Cautious Optimism
According to a new survey, 16% of New York City's employers plan to hire more workers this Spring. 10% plan to downsize, while 73% plan no change. The poll, conducted by Manpower, Inc. (a temp firm), says to expect continued cuts in the financial services sector, however.

Web Comfort
The sixth annual American Century Internet Adoption Study is out, and it states that concerns among mutual fund investors about security and privacy are on the decline. 26% of respondents stated that security was a concern in using the web, down from 39% in 2000, and 74% four years ago. Approximately 50% of those surveyed have visiteda mutual fund website, the highest level in the six years of the study.
