Goldman Prohibits S****y E-mails

News summary by MFWire's editors

Goldman Sachs' chiefs are trying to clean up employees sometimes s***y language. The Wall Street Journal's Cassell Bryan-Low and Aaron Lucchetti report that the New York-based investment bank and asset manager is banning curse words (even those with asterisks replacing some letters) from employees' e-mails, instant messages and text messages (from company phones).

The move comes after one particular e-mail message, "[B]oy, that timberwo[l]f was one s---- deal," came up in hearings on Capitol Hill.

The WSJ also lays out profanity policies from Citigroup, JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley and the NYSE, among others. (Both Citi and JPMorgan already ban swearing in e-mail.)
