How can Larry Fink top last year's buy of BGI with its iShares ETF business? The odds are that he will find a way.

Since co-founding BlackRock [see profile] two decades ago with the backing of PNC, Fink has been on a shopping spree through which he has created one of the largest fund shops in the world. Fink has taken BlackRock from bonds, into equities with State Street Research, the wirehouses with MLIM and ETFs and indexing with BGI.

Forbes ranked Fink as the 48th most powerful person in the world. He ranks 3rd in the fund world.
