Putnam Unveils a New Advisor Tool

Reported by Hung Tran

Putnam Investments today is rolling out a new tool for advisors. Dubbed FundVisualizer, the tool provides a simpler way for advisors to compare multiple mutual funds on a single screen.

Advisors can evaluate more than 10,000 funds in real time via 60 different selection criteria.

Brian Kelley, director, sales and marketing center at Putnam, labeled the new tool as a "game changer" for advisors and said it is a "a bold statement because we think our products can stack up with the best of them."

"Things have changed drastically for advisors from a few years ago," he told The MFWire. "They're now working with 10 to 15 fund families and what they want is information, collateral, insight and outlook."

The tool, which aggregates its fund data from Morningstar, was soft launched by Putnam in December to an audience of some 3,000 advisors, according to Kelley. "We do a good job of listening to our clients and much of the feedback for the tool has been funneled through our wholesalers," he said.
