PIMCO [see profile] has hired Ignacio Sosa as an executive vice president and emerging markets product manager, based in the firm's Newport Beach, California headquarters, effective today. He reports to Wendy Cupps, managing director and head of the product management group, and David Fisher, executive vice president and head of global and emerging markets product management.

Sosa most recently was managing director and PM at Voras Capital Management. Previously, he was the founder and co-chief investment officer of OneWorld Investments from 1999-2008.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA--(Marketwire - October 31, 2011) - PIMCO, a leading global investment management firm, has hired Ignacio Sosa as an Executive Vice President and Emerging Markets Product Manager. He will be based in the firm's Newport Beach office beginning October 31 and will report to Wendy Cupps, Managing Director and Head of the Product Management Group, and David Fisher, Executive Vice President and Head of Global and Emerging Markets Product Management.

Mr. Sosa has 25 years of investment experience and most recently was Managing Director, Portfolio Manager at Voras Capital Management. Previously, he was the founder, Managing Partner and Co-Chief Investment Officer of OneWorld Investments from 1999-2008. Earlier in his career, Mr. Sosa was Managing Director, Founder and Head of Emerging Markets Investment and Asia Banking for BankBoston Corporation and Managing Director and Co-Head of Worldwide Fixed Income Sales at Bankers Trust New York. Mr. Sosa earned an MBA from Babson College's Franklin W. Olin Graduate School of Business and a BBA from the University of Miami.
