The Foundation and the Future: NICSA's New Chief Speaks

Reported by Neil Anderson, Managing Editor

"I feel quite confident in the foundation that NICSA has and the bright future that we have ahead."

Jim Fitzpatrick
NICSA
President
NICSA's freshly-anointed president, Jim Fitzpatrick, welcomed fundsters with that sentiment in his introductory remarks today before the luncheon keynote speech at the trade group's 2015 General Membership Meeting at the Hyatt Regency Boston. Fitzpatrick, a former NICSA board member and an alumnus of Goldman Sachs and First Data (among other places), took over last month. He has big plans to reenergize NICSA.

"We have an engaged and enthusiastic membership, an engaged and focused leadership ... and hundreds of volunteers on committees," Fitzpatrick told NICSA GMM attendees. "If you take away one thing ... [know that] this is your organization. Please get involved, volunteer, and have your voice heard."

"We'll be focused on member engagement, enhancing member service, expanding education ... and continually improving our annual conferences," Fitzpatrick added.

Fitzpatrick said he is spending his first four months or so on the job "talking to as many members as possible."

"It's great to be back home again, home again at NICSA and home again in Boston," Fitzpatrick said.

Fitzpatrick also brought up NICSA board chair George Batejan and Lou Fugazy of SourceMedia's Money Management Executive publication to present the four NICSA/NOVA Awards for 2015. At the firm level, DST Systems won the "innovation in back office efficiencies" award, while DST's ALPS Fund Services won the "innovation in customer experience" award. Individually, MFS veteran Maureen Leary-Jago won the "visionary leadership" award, while BFDS alumnus Paul O'Neill won the "lifetime achievement" award.
