A new product chief is taking over in a key BlackRock [profile] unit following the retirement of a company veteran.

Daniel Basile BlackRock Director, Head of Defined Contribution Product Management & Implementation

Dan Basile has been promoted to director and head of defined contribution product management, reporting directly to U.S. and Canada DC chief Anne Ackerley, our sister publication 401kWire reports. Basile's predecessor and former boss, San Francisco-based Bob Gain, retired from BlackRock last month.

MFWire could not reach Gain for comment for this story. Basile referred inquiries to a company spokesperson, who declined to comment.

Basile's promotion and Gain's retirement were not the only big changes in BlackRock's DC leadership in recent months.
