SSgA Banks On Bringing Hollywood to Mid-Caps

Reported by Neil Anderson, Managing Editor

What do Hollywood, donuts, beer, newspapers, and the ETF business have in common? Just ask the State Street Global Advisors (SSgA [profile]) team.

Boston-based SSgA is sponsoring a new podcast series, Crazy Enough, that stars actress (a Massachusetts native who is also a director and business owner) Elizabeth Banks and directed by David Gordon Green, SSgA chief marketing officer Stephen Tisdalle confirmed yesterday. The idea is to highlight the success of mid-cap companies that SSgA's SPDR S&P MIDCAP 400 ETF invests in, companies like Dunkin' Donuts, EPR Properties, the New York Times, and Sam Adams.

BrandChannel and ETF Trends reported on the news. And last month the Boston Herald figured out that Banks was back in Beantown working on some kind of secret project.

"Despite delivering higher annualized returns over the last two decades, mid-cap stocks receive scant attention when compared to their large and small cap peers," Tisdalle states. "Crazy Enough to Work takes a fun, innovative and engaging approach to help investors get a closer look at several companies that make up the mid-cap equity sector."

"As a fellow entrepreneur, I found it exciting to go behind the scenes and help these organizations tell their stories to the world," Banks states.
