A New Addition

News summary by MFWire's editors

Aston Asset Management, LLC (Aston) has launched a new mutual fund the Aston/River Road Small-Mid Cap Fund – N Class (ARSMX).

In making the announcement, Stuart Bilton, CEO of Aston stated, “We are excited to offer another outstanding product to investors that is subadvised by River Road Asset Management. This Fund will allow investors the opportunity to take advantage of River Road’s strategy of finding companies with little analyst coverage that possess attractive business models.”

Andrew Beck, President of River Road Asset Management, LLC (River Road), commented, "We are looking forward to enhancing our partnership with Aston. They have done a tremendous job distributing our Small Cap Value Fund (that is closed to investors) and our Dynamic Equity Income Fund, and we believe we will find the same success with the Small-Mid Cap product."

River Road Small-Mid Cap (SMID) strategy invests in well-managed, financially strong companies that are trading at a meaningful discount to River Road’s assessed absolute value. They further target companies with predictable, sustainable business models that are undiscovered, under-followed or misunderstood by traditional Wall Street research firms. River Road’s stock selection process is complemented by a risk averse approach that employs a strict sell discipline.

Bilton commented, “We are pleased to be working again with the three senior members of River Road Asset Management. Based on their track record with the Aston/River Road Small Cap Value Fund and the Aston/River Road Dynamic Equity Income Fund, we are confident that the Aston/River Road SMID Fund will be attractive to our investors. As with all of our small and mid cap funds, we will be conservative in determining capacity limits for this product.”

The Fund will be managed by James C. Shircliff, CEO and Chief Investment Officer at River Road; Andrew Beck, President of River Road; and Henry W. Sanders, III, Executive Vice President of River Road .

Aston, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, is a diversified institutional based investment management firm. River Road, a subadviser to Aston Funds, is a Louisville, Kentucky based asset manager specializing in value equity portfolios.

River Road also subadvises the Aston/River Road Dynamic Equity Income Fund (ARDEX) which seeks high current income and long term capital appreciation by investing in a diversified multi-cap portfolio of income producing equity securities with yields that the portfolio managers believe will exceed the Russell 3000 Index.

The minimum investment for Aston/River Road Small-Mid Cap Fund is $2,500. The Fund can be purchased directly, or through a variety of investment platforms and financial advisors. The fund is intended for investors who can tolerate the risks involved with investing in small to mid- capitalization companies which may experience greater volatility and less liquidity.
