Wednesday, September 28, 2005 SSgA Taps Barclays Vet to Boost ETF Sales State Street Global Advisors has tapped a new chief to oversee its exchange-traded fund business. David Sandrew is taking over as director of Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) sales, reporting to Greg Ehret, co-head of SSgA Advisor Strategies. Ehret took over as co-head of the business with Jim Ross after the departure of Augustin "Gus" Fleites earlier this year. Fleites joined ProFunds as its chief investment officer and ETF head last month. Sandrew was most recently at Barclays Bank where he was a director in the Prime Services Group in Equity Finance. As part of that job, he established the bank's prime brokerage business in Boston. Prior to working at Barclays he was responsible for global client relationships for UBS Warburg LLC's institutional equity division. He was also a vice president of Schwab Capital Markets & Trading and Schwab Institutional divisions during an eight-year stint at that firm. At SSgA, Sandrew will be responsible for coordinating ETF business development initiatives focused on key intermediary and institutional clients. He will manage a team of ETF product and support professionals, according to Ehret. Ehret added that the firm is seeking to significantly expand the reach of its ETF business and "further enhance the breadth and quality of ETF solutions we provide to our clients."
