Fidelity Unveils Low-Cost Treasury Funds

Fidelity Investments has added three low-cost Treasury bond index funds to its Spartan Funds lineup. The Spartan funds are Fidelity's low cost index fund group.

With the addition of the Spartan Short-Term Treasury Bond Index Fund, Spartan Intermediate Treasury Bond Index Fund and Spartan Long-Term Treasury Bond Index Fund, Fidelity now offers 12 index funds, the company said in a news release.

The new funds are aimed at investors seeking to avoid credit risk and are looking for income and tax benefits coming from Treasuries, Fidelity said.

The three funds, which will be managed by William Irving, will offer low cost Fidelity Advantage Class shares aside from the standard Investor Class shares.

The funds bear fees of 10 basis points for investors who put in a minimum of $100,000 and 20 bps for those who invest a lower amount.
