A well-known name in the fund industry is taking a board seat with a well-known company in the separately managed account space. CheckFree said Friday that its shareholders elected C. Kim Goodwin as its newest director replacing Lewis Levin.

Goodwin was managing director and chief investment officer for equities at State Street Research & Management Company until February of 2005. Prior to that, she served at as the chief investment officer at American Century in Kansas City and was a regular guest on television's Wall Street Week.

Earlier in her career, she was a senior vice president with Putnam Investments and a portfolio manager at Prudential Investments. This is her second board seat (she serves on Akamai Technologies' board).

"Kim brings an impressive track record of financial services industry success to CheckFree's Board of Directors," said Pete Kight, chairman and chief executive officer of CheckFree Corporation. "I believe her deep industry knowledge and management expertise will be an asset to CheckFree as we continue to advance financial electronic commerce solutions for our global customer base."
