Tuesday, April 18, 2006 Dreyfus Founders Has New CEO Stephen Canter has taken over from Richard Sabo as president and CEO of the Dreyfus Founders family of funds. This information was made public in a company filing on Monday. Sabo had been president and CEO of Founders Asset Management since joining the company in 1998. The leadership change took place April 14. Company spokesperson Patrice Kozlowski said Sabo left to pursue other opportunities. Canter, who is based in New York, has been with chairman of Denver-based Founders since 2001. He is also vice chairman of Mellon Financial, a Dreyfus affiliate, and chairman and CEO of The Dreyfus Corporation, which he joined in 1995. "Founders has always reported to Stephen Canter," Koslowski noted. She said there are no plans to hire another person to handle Sabo's specific responsibilities, adding that Canter "has resumed responsibilities as president and CEO."
