Northern Trust Adds Emerging Markets Fund

Northern Trust, advisor to the Northern Funds family, on Monday announced the addition of an emerging markets fund to its line-up. The Northern emerging Markets Equity Fund will use quantitative methods to approximate the performance of the MSCI Emerging Markets Index.

The new fund will be officially launched on Tuesday, April 25, and will join the 32 no-load domestic and international mutual funds already in the family. Its assets will build on the more than $200 billion Northern Trust already manages through quantitative strategies.

"Many of our high net worth clients have become increasingly interested in allocating more of their portfolios to emerging markets," said James B. Francis, senior vice president of Northern Trust's quantitative management group, who will manage the portfolio.

The new fund is available directly to individual investors, and to high net worth investors through Northern Trust financial advisors and other intermediaries.
