American Funds, Fidelity Surge in April

American Funds and Fidelity each have reason to hail the most recent monthly sales stats from Financial Research Corp. According to the Boston-based fund tracker, American Funds surpassed Vanguard in April to become the top manager of stock- and bond-fund assets with $864.3 billion, writes Dow Jones.

Meanwhile, driven by a rush on four closing funds, Fidelity’s sales hit $5.8 billion for the month, marking the biggest single month for the firm in a decade. Bloomberg reports on that piece of FRC info.
