American Century Star Takes a Break

Kurt Stalzer, manager of the American Century Heritage Fund, has taken a leave of absence. American Century spokesman Chris Doyle confirmed that Stalzer has been on leave since April 21 (contrary to a published report claiming Stalzer has been on leave for eight months).

In Stalzer's absence the other two managers of the fund, David Hollond and Glenn Fogle, are handing his responsibilities.

Doyle told The MFWire that American Century does not know when Stalzer might return as he is dealing with an unspecified medical condition, but they are hopeful that he will return at some point. Citing privacy concerns, Doyle did not elaborate on the medical condition.

Doyle also pointed out that Morningstar rated the Heritage fund a five star fund, contracty to a published report labeling it as a four-star fund.
