Checkmate for 'The Bishop' Bomber

Would-be-mutual fund bomber, John Tomkins, who referred to himself as "The Bishop," has been indicted on 15 different charges, including 10 counts of securities fraud, reports the The Rocky Mountain News. In an implausible scheme, Tomkins thought that he could scare fund shops into driving up the stocks of companies he has invested in. American Century, Janus, Yacktman Asset Management, Friess Associates, Broadview Advisors, Wallace Weitz, Nicholas Co., Thompson Investment Management, First Pacific, Schwartz Investment Counsel, Ave Maria Mutual Funds, Calamos Investments, Diamond Hill Investments and Bridgeway Funds all received threatening letters. A bomb was also mailed by Tomkins to the Janus Small Cap Value Fund, but was forwarded on to the fund's Chicago-based sub-adviser, Perkins, Wolf, McDonnell and Co.
