SSgA Educates Intermediaries

SSgA is targeting financial advisors, registered investment advisors, and wealth managers with its new State Street Thought Leadership program. The program seeks to educate the aforementioned groups on practice management and portfolio building, no doubt with State Street's products. The events will be held in Washington, DC (October 9), Houston (October 23), and Chicago (November 13).

State Street Global Advisors (SSgA), the investment management arm of State Street Corporation (NYSE: STT - News) and the largest institutional fund manager in the world(1), today announced State Street Thought Leadership, its new national event program presented by SSgA's Intermediary Business Group that focuses on the needs of financial advisors, registered investment advisors, and wealth managers for practice management and portfolio building. The events are open to all pre-registered investment professionals and are not limited to State Street clients.

The program includes a series called Mid Cap SPDR Precision Thinkers that are scheduled to be held in, Washington, DC (October 9), Houston (October 23), and Chicago (November 13). The first event was held in New York on September 25. These half-day events feature a keynote speech from a prominent leader, strategist, or author including, General Colin L. Powell, USA (Ret.), former Secretary of State; Steve Levitt and Stephen Dubner, co-authors of Freakonomics; and Renee Mauborgne and Chan Kim, co-authors of Blue Ocean Strategy: How to Create Uncontested Market Space and Make the Competition Irrelevant. Each keynote speech will be followed by a Practice Management Workshop lead by Rebecca Pomering, a principal at Moss Adams LLP, specializing consulting in practice management consulting to the financial advisory industry, or Hannah Shaw Grove, a leading authority on the mindset, behavior, concerns, preferences, and finances of high-net worth individuals.

In addition to the Mid Cap SPDR Precision Thinkers series, State Street Global Advisors' Intermediary Business Group is hosting four regional thought leadership segments titled Global Trends in Institutional Investing. Focused on the latest trends in institutional investment management and asset allocation, the first two events in this series were held in San Francisco (September 18) and Los Angeles (September 19) and reached full capacity. The remaining two events feature insights from some of State Street's most influential thought leaders and are scheduled to be held in Boston (October 4) and Chicago (October 10). These events include, Thomas Anderson, head of Strategy and Research for the Intermediary Business Group; Adele Kohler, head of Product Engineering and Product Development; and Alistair Lowe, head of Global Asset Allocation and Currency.

"Designed to provide financial professionals with better access to practical practice management intelligence and portfolio building insight, State Street Global Advisors' Thought Leadership series underscores the firm's commitment to providing unmatched resources to its growing client base," says Tony Rochte, senior managing director at State Street Global Advisors. "In addition to addressing techniques for advisors in overcoming the challenges of today's competitive marketplace, the thought leadership series also provides an invaluable networking opportunity."
