Monday, October 15, 2007 Growth Fund of America Crosses the $200-Billion Mark American Funds' Growth Fund of America has achieved what no other fund has accomplished before: cross the $200-billion mark. The Wall Street Journal's Diya Gullapalli wrote over the weekend about this feat and the challenges faced by American Funds in dealing with the growth. Officials at American Funds say the fund will avoid the problems that confronted another jumbo fund, Fidelity's Magellan, which had $110 billion in 2000, because the fund is constructed differently.
