Skipper of Janus' Flagship Fund is Leaving

David Corkins, portfolio manager of the flagship Janus Fund, is leaving the Denver firm to pursue other opportunities, Janus officials said in a news release on Friday morning.

David Corkins

Corkins' impending exit was first reported by The Rocky Mountain News, which cited anonymous sources.

Corkins, a 12-year Janus veteran, also runs the Janus Adviser Large Cap Growth Fund, Janus Aspen Large Cap Growth Portfolio and related products for retail and institutional clients.

Jonathan Coleman

Jonathan Coleman, who manages the Janus Enterprise Fund, will succeed Corkins at the helm of the funds. Coleman, in turn, will be succeeded by Brian Demain as portfolio manager of the Janus Enterprise Fund and the company's mid-cap growth portfolios.

The changes will take effect November 1, company officials said.

Corkins' departure is the latest in a string of portfolio manager exits from Janus. According to the Rocky Mountain News, Janus has lost about half of its fund managers since early last year.

At the end of this year, star portfolio manager Scott Schoelzel is leaving the firm.
