Janus Adds to Fund Lineup

Janus has launched two new funds. The Janus Adviser Global Research Fund and Janus Adviser Global Real Estate Fund will be sold through third-party financial institutions and intermediaries.

Janus Capital Group Inc. (NYSE: JNS - News) today announced the launch of Janus Adviser Global Research Fund and Janus Adviser Global Real Estate Fund, two products that will be sold through third-party financial institutions and intermediaries.

Janus Adviser Global Research Fund (JRGSX) is a sector-neutral and highly diversified strategy that will be managed by Janus’ team of 37 equity analysts and led by Jim Goff, Janus’ Director of Research, who provides daily oversight of the fund. The fund seeks to outperform the MSCI World Growth Index by leveraging the most compelling ideas uncovered by Janus’ in-depth, fundamental research process. With between 100 and 150 anticipated holdings, the fund will normally invest at least 40% of its net assets in non-U.S. securities. Individual position weights within the portfolio will be determined by the analysts, who are organized across eight global sector teams: communications; consumer staples; energy; financials; health care; industrials and materials; retail; and technology.

“This product gives all our equity research analysts an opportunity to get their best investment ideas into the portfolio,” said Goff. “The team approach also fosters healthy debate and enables us to include certain stocks that are promising but aren’t necessarily endorsed universally.”

Janus Adviser Global Real Estate Fund (JERSX) seeks total return through long-term capital appreciation and current income by investing in global real estate securities. A portion of the fund may be invested in non-U.S. securities in real estate markets with high barriers to entry and attractive growth opportunities.

Janus Adviser Global Real Estate Fund will be managed by Patrick Brophy, who will be supported by Janus’ equity research team. Brophy has more than 15 years of professional real estate experience. Prior to joining Janus in 2005, he was a principal at THK Associates, Inc. In 2001, Brophy founded the real estate investment company, Colt Properties, LLC. Brophy has a bachelor’s degree in history from Dartmouth College with intensive study in English and economics.

“With its low correlation to traditional equity funds, Janus Adviser Global Real Estate Fund could be an attractive option for investors looking to diversify their portfolios,” said Jonathan Coleman, Co-Chief Investment Officer of Janus Capital Group Inc.

A fund’s performance may be affected by risks that include those associated with nondiversification, non-investment grade debt securities, undervalued or overlooked companies, investments in specific industries or countries and potential conflicts of interest with Janus Smart Portfolios. Additional risks to the fund(s) may include those associated with investing in foreign securities, emerging markets, initial public offerings, derivatives and companies with relatively small market capitalizations. Please see a Janus prospectus or janus.com for more information about risk, fund holdings and details.

Funds that invest in Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) may be subject to a higher degree of market risk because of concentration in a specific industry, sector or geographic region. REITs may be subject to risks including, but not limited to: liquidity, decline in the value of real estate, risks related to general and economic conditions, changes in the value of the underlying property owned by the trust and defaults by borrowers.

Foreign securities have additional risks including exchange rate changes, political and economic upheaval, the relative lack of information, relatively low market liquidity and the potential lack of strict financial and accounting controls and standards. These risks are magnified in emerging markets. The prices of foreign securities held by the fund, and therefore a fund's performance, may decline in response to such risks.
