Dechert Taps a New Partner

Fund firms have a new go-to-guy in Dechert's Boston office. The law firm to the asset management industry has hired Geoffrey Kenyon, formerly a partner with Goodwin Procter. Kenyon will work with major investment managers and other financial institutions, and with independent mutual fund directors.

Dechert LLP today announced that Geoffrey R.T. Kenyon has joined the firm as a partner in the financial services group. He is based in the firm's Boston office. Kenyon was previously a partner at Goodwin Procter.

"Dechert is renowned internationally for its preeminent financial services practice. I'm thrilled to be joining such a great team," Kenyon said.

Kenyon focuses his practice on the investment management industry, working with major investment managers and other financial institutions, and with independent mutual fund directors. He has extensive experience with all sectors of the U.S. domestic market, including SEC-registered open- and closed-end funds, private funds, hedge funds, and separate managed accounts.

“Geoff has a sterling reputation as a very talented and experienced lawyer assisting prominent financial services firms on US and international regulatory matters. We are thrilled to have Geoff join our practice in Boston,” said Dechert Financial Services Group co-chair Joseph Fleming.

Kenyon has worked with funds organized in a variety of offshore domiciles and has significant experience with funds offered to other world markets. Kenyon also advises numerous non-U.S. investment managers with respect to their U.S. activities.

Kenyon has been selected for inclusion in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and The Best Lawyers in America.

"We've known Geoff for many years and are excited about this opportunity to work with him on both domestic and international matters, where he has recognized expertise,” said Dechert deputy chairman Robert Helm.

Kenyon was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar at the Columbia University School of Law (J.D., 1984) and attended Northwestern University (B.A., 1980). He is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts.
