"I would like to thank Kevin for the contributions he has made to Old Mutual US," said Old Mutual CEO Scott Powers, in an e-mailed statement. "His leadership, insight and counsel have been invaluable to me, as well as many of you, as we have grown and evolved our business model."

Powers added that the company has long known that there would come a time when Hunt would want to "focus more of his time on other pursuits, including start-up initiatives in the asset management business and charitable work."

Hunt joined Old Mutual in April 2002 and serves on the Old Mutual US executive management team. Hunt, who is currently chairman of the board at the Money Management Institute, previously held stints at Morgan Stanley and E.F. Hutton.
