Lynch Lynched?

Fidelity's settlement of the the improper gift case, and the surprise inclusion of Peter Lynch among those who were charged, is all over the papers this morning, but The Wall Street Journal and The Los Angeles Times included a bit more details on Lynch.

Both papers, citing Lynch's spokesman Doug Bailey, reported that Lynch received tickets to Boston Red Sox games and stage productions of "The Nutcracker" and "The Lion King," and that he gave the tickets away to family and friends. Lynch's gardener was one of the recipients, The LA Times reported.

Bailey told The Journal that Lynch "doesn't deserve to be lumped in with this other crowd. It was only tickets; it wasn't expensive cases of Bordeaux or trips on jets like these other cases."

A statement issued by Lynch himself, which was carried by most papers, read: "In asking the Fidelity equity trading desk for occasional help locating tickets, I never intended to do anything inappropriate and I regret having made those requests."
