Natixis affiliate Gateway Investment Advisers has added a portfolio manager to its $4.7 billion Gateway Fund. Michael T. Buckius will join current co-managers, J. Patrick Rogers and Paul R. Company Press Release

BOSTON (May 28, 2008) – Natixis Global Associates, the distribution arm of Natixis Global Asset Management, L.P., announced today that Gateway Investment Advisers, LLC, has appointed Michael T. Buckius, CFA, as co-manager of the Gateway Fund (Class A: GATEX), a $4.7 billion1 hedged equity fund managed by Gateway, a Cincinnati-based investment advisor and Natixis affiliate. Effective June 1, 2008, Buckius joins current co-managers, J. Patrick Rogers and Paul R. Stewart, as a member of the Gateway Fund’s portfolio management team.

“We are delighted to announce Mike’s appointment as co-manager of our flagship product,” said J. Patrick Rogers, President and CEO of Gateway Investment Advisers. “Mike has played an important role on the firm’s investment management team, and we are confident his expertise in trading and managing equity derivatives will enable him to make a strong contribution to the fund.”

Buckius joined Gateway Investment Advisers as vice president and a member of the investment management team in 1999 and has been promoted to senior vice president in connection with this announcement. Since 2006, he has co-managed the $71 million, Irish-registered Gateshore Fund and also co-managed two closed-end funds sub-advised by Gateway – the Nuveen Equity Premium and Growth Fund (JPG) and the Nuveen Equity Premium Income Fund (JPZ) – totaling $1 billion in assets. Prior to joining Gateway, Buckius was an equity derivative sales professional at Bear Stearns. He holds a B.A. and M.B.A. in Finance from Loyola College and is a CFA charterholder.

Gateway Investment Advisers is known for its risk-conscious investment approach that seeks to capture the majority of the return associated with equity market investments while exposing investors to lower risk and volatility than other equity investments. The firm’s strategy is to invest in a broadly diversified common stock portfolio and manage risk by selling cash-settled index call options and purchasing index put options. Gateway’s strategy is designed to take advantage of premium cash flow generated from the sale of index call options, which generally increases as a function of increasing market volatility.

The firm was acquired by Natixis Global Asset Management, L.P., in February 2008. At the same time, the Gateway Fund was reorganized as a member of the Natixis Funds family, with the same name, investment strategy and portfolio management team.
