Evergreen Names a New President of its Funds

Douglas Munn, who had served as head of mutual funds at Evergreen Investments, became president and CEO of the Evergreen funds effective January 1. His appointment took effect a day after Wells Fargo completed its acquisition of Evergreen's parent, Wachovia Corp.

The previous holder of those titles was Dennis Ferro, who retired as president and CEO of Evergreen Investments on December 31.

Peter Cieszko, who was slated to succeed Ferro at the end of last year, was due to become president and CEO of the funds as part of his duties. Cieszko, however, is departing Evergreen and is set to join Fidelity next week (see The MFWire, 01/06/09).

Evergreen Investments is now part of Wells Fargo's asset management group led by Mike Niedermeyer.
