Besides retaining his current duties, FitzGerald will oversee the Birmingham, Michigan-based firm's growth plans. Munder is looking to do M&A deals and lift-outs, in addition to growing organically.

FitzGerald, 49, joined Munder Capital as head of retail distribution in 2004 and in 2007 his duties grew to include institutional distribution and corporate marketing. He took part in the management-led buyout team that, along with private equity firm Crestview Partners, acquired Comerica's interest in Munder in 2006.

Prior to joining Munder, FitzGerald worked at MFS, where he led retail sales and marketing operations.
