Scout Lures an Ex-Thornburg Exec


UMB Financial Corporation subsidiary Scout Investment Advisors hired Benjamin Wiesenfeld as chief compliance officer and legal counsel. Wiesenfeld will oversee all legal matters relating to SIA, including administering compliance policies and procedures as well as reporting on legal and compliance matters.

His arrival at Scout comes two months after UMB Financial restructured its asset management business. Under the reorganization, Scout Investment Advisors, which been a subsidiary of UMB Bank, became a unit of UMB Financial.

Wiesenfeld reports directly to chairman and CEO Clyde Wendel, according to a company insider.

Previously, Wiesenfeld served as Thornburg Investment Management's chief compliance officer. A Thornburg spokesperson could not immediately be reached for comment on how his former duties are being handled.
