EPFR Data Shows Bond Flows Driving Flows

No specific fund firms are mentioned in the WSJ Fund Track column on Monday morning as Sam Mamudi focuses on mutual fund inflows.

The biggest news of the article is that it relies on EPFR, a Boston-based firm that tracks fund flows, for its data rather than the ICI, FRC or Strategic Insight.

So far this year global bond and stock funds are the place where fund investors are sending their cash, according to data Mamudi picks up from EPFR Global.

That observation jibes with marketing efforts at the Schwab Impact conference in San Diego last week where many fund firms -- including Franklin Templeton -- were highlighting their global bond funds.

Domestic bond funds are also pulling in assets. Through August, 90 percent of inflows went to fixed income funds, according to the article.
