When it Comes to Active ETFs, Big Players Have So Far Avoided Stocks


In Monday's Wall Street Journal Fund Track, Ian Salisbury notes that the larger ETF players have been jumping into the active ETF arena, but have so far been focusing their efforts on commodities and Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities or TIPS.

The larger players such as BlackRock's iShares, Pimco and Vanguard have so far avoided listing active stock funds, leaving those instead to smaller firms such as Grail Advisors and AdvisorShares Investments, both of which have rolled out actively managed equity ETFs this year.
