Pioneer Taps Hancock, Ameriprise Alums for a Renamed Group
Pioneer Investments hired Mary Powers, previously with John Hancock Financial, and Jason Xanthakis, formerly with Ameriprise Financial, for its newly rechristened business development group.
That group was previously known as the relationship management team.
Business development is under the purview of Bill Taylor, who also oversees

alliances team. Taylor's title changed from senior vice president and head of relationship management
and strategic alliances to senior vice president and head of the business development

The change in the name of Taylor's group took place last month, said Taylor's boss,
Joe Kringdon, executive vice president and head of U.S. retail distribution, in an interview
with The MFWire on Wednesday. There was no change in Taylor's duties.
"The phrase sounded nice, very glitzy," Kringdon said of the group's old name. "But it didn't
state specifically what the team was looking to do."
As for the new hires, Powers joined as vice president, business development officer for the advisory
channel. She spent 19 years at Hancock, most recently in the role of national account
manager at John Hancock Financial Services.
Xanthakis, for his part, is a portfolio consultant in the wealth management team. He was previously
a senior research analyst at Ameriprise specializing in platform placement and
earlier worked at Fidelity.
Meanwhile, Kimberly Boucher, who was promoted to key account manager in the wealth management channel.
Powers reports to Tom Coffey, senior vice president of the business development group, advisory channel.
Xanthakis and Boucher report to Thom Jones, senior vice president of the business development group,
wealth management channel.
Coffey and Jones are among Taylor's direct reports.
Pioneer on Wednesday also unveiled appointments on the investment-only retirement side.
