The CEO change comes two months after the firm renamed itself from Arnhold and S. Bleichroeder Advisers to First Eagle Investment Management.

Arnhold joined the company in 1983 as a portfolio manager. In 1994, he became co-CEO and head of the investment management, brokerage and global securities businesses. After the firm sold its investment banking and global securities businesses in 2002, he took full responsibility for all aspects of the company.

Macaskill, a UK native, joined First Eagle January last year and is a former CEO of OppenheimerFunds.
