John Hancock Signs Sales VP

Doug Baran has joined the John Hancock Funds as a vice president in institutional sales and client servicing, with a focus on large institutional funds.

Baran's responsibilities will include direct marketing and sales to Corporate, Public, Taft-Hartley and Endowment/Foundation funds in the mid-west and the state of Texas. Baran, who reports directly to James Bowhers, president of John Hancock Funds, Inc., is responsible for the distribution of John Hancock Funds' institutional fixed income and equity products.

"We're pleased to have such a strong player join our team," said Bowhers. "Doug's talent and institutional background will complement the strong sales force already in place."

Baran joins John Hancock Funds from UAM Investment Services in Boston where he was a senior vice president. Prior to that, he was a senior vice president at MetLife Investment Services in New York.
