Friday, March 12, 1999 Gateway Expands to East Coast and Hires New Head Dr. Harry Merriken has left BT Alex Brown to lead the new office of Gateway Investment Advisers, L.P. in Baltimore, MD. Gateway recently opened an office in Baltimore in order to better serve its east coast clients and the growing assets under management which have more than doubled in the last two years. Heading up the new office will be Merriken, who was named a senior vice president and principal. His primary responsibilities will be strategic marketing and product development. Before joining Cincinnati-based Gateway, Merriken had been with BT Alex Brown as a principal, working in Private Client Investment Services, concentrating on asset allocation, portfolio design and the use of innovative financial products. Before that, Merriken had been Dean of Loyola College's business school in Baltimore. "Harry's wealth of expertise and experience in solving financial problems will greatly expand Gateway's ability to serve its clients," said Walter G. Sall, chairman of Gateway.
