  • P. Craig Ueland will serve as coo, and his direct area of responsibility will be the firm's direct-service institutional business. Russell is attempting to institute new full-service strategic relationships with 401(k) plan sponsors.

The executive has been with the firm since 1983. He has been director of Russell's offices in Sydney and London. He has also held the titles of manager of non-U.S. relations and cfo.

"In his role as cfo, Craig has gained insights into how every unit of the company contributes to Russell's continued strong growth, and he has demonstrated a keen ability to provide the necessary leadership direction," said Michael Phillips, president and ceo.

Thomas Hanly will step into the cfo's spot.

Meanwhile, Leonard Brennan has been named as senior executive for third-party funds distribution. He will also continue overseeing Russell's international operations. He has been with the firm since 1985. Brennan has been manager of the London and Toronto offices for Russell, and he launched the company's first multi-manager investment fund outside the United States.

"My motive in making these appointments -- in addition to better aligning the company's efforts with its investment management priorities -- is to enhance the long-term health of our company and the interests of our customers and our prospects. They reflect the increasing tempo of change in a world the demands flexibility and responsiveness as a condition of corporate health," said Phillips.
