American Century Rebuilds Website Around the Individual

Kansas City based-American Century Investments has launched an upgraded website, its third significant upgrade since the launch of its original website in 1994, with the latest version focusing on personalized web pages and multiple account access. The announcement follows the release of the firm's third Internet adoption study last December, which showed an increase of 66% in the number of mutual fund investors currently accessing the Internet.

"This is part of an exciting revolution -- we are on the leading edge for providing one-to-one electronic service in the mutual fund industry," said Mary Witwer, American Century's vice president of e-commerce. "the new site delivers on three key benefits for our current and prospective investors: simplicity, control and convenience."

To meet these stated goals, the new site, which was launched earlier this month, focuses on two new features that streamline an investors accounts, the OnePIN feature and a personalized homepage for all site visitors.

The OnePIN feature, allows investors to access information on all of their accounts, using one PIN, enabling them to see their entire portfolio at a glance.

The personalized homepage feature allows any site visitors access to their own homepage, establishing preferences for the individual's own information needs for mutual funds, companies or stocks.

Although the OnePIN gives investors access to regular, brokerage acoounts and a personal homepage, it does not access 401(k) accounts. American Century states, however, that it is working on adding on-line access to these accounts as well.
