Tuesday, March 30, 1999 Morningstar to Update Performance Data Online Starting in May, Morningstar Principia Pro will offer monthly updates online. Using a direct Internet connection, subscribers may update performance-related data on more than 10,000 mutual funds, 8,000 variable insurance subaccounts, and 7,000 stocks. When the information is ready for downloading, Morningstar notifies subscribers on www.morningstar.com, through proactive e-mails, and via a recorded announcement on the product support line. Professionals may update immediately or schedule a download time to automatically update the Morningstar Principia Pro software overnight. "The Internet is the most efficient means available to deliver quantities of new information," said Chris Boruff, product manager for Morningstar Principia Pro. "We recognize the importance of timely data and subscribers will now have access to fresh data by the fourth or fifth business day of each month." Previously, the software package was updated via CD-ROM around the 10th of the month, and this option remains if subscribers want a full update at one time.
