In the newly created position, Pucchi, 49, will oversee the firm's asset allocation portfolio managers and directs the work of Federated's 13 U.S. equity analysts.

In addition, he becomes a member of two committees -- the asset allocation subcommittee, which will assist Federated's three CIOs in implementing the company's asset allocation models and publishing the company's quarterly strategy report; and the firm's U.S. equity operating committee, which oversees Federated's domestic equity investing activities.

Most recently, Pucchi was a managing director and Lehman Brothers' growth stock strategist and a member of that firm's investment committee.

Pucci will be reporting to, J. Thomas Madden, CIO of domestic equity and high yield who said, "Bernie Picchi's hands on experience in developing and managing a world-class analytical team will help Federated to further expand our domestic equity franchise and attract additional investment talent to our firm."
