Once a plan sponsor has chosen to use the Advisor service, plan participants can access the service through a link on Prudential's website. Participants will then receive personalized recommendations from Financial Engines on how to invest in specific mutual fund choices in their 401(k) plans.

After completing a session with the Advisor service, participants can implement decisions concerning their investments based on the Advisor service's investment recommendations. Financial Engines, a registered investment advisor, will serve as the investment advisor and fiduciary.

"Our partnership with Financial Engines allows us to fill a need that many retirement plan sponsors are trying to cope with these days," said Ken Montgomery, president of Prudential Retirement Services.

"Their Advisor service provides independent, third-party investment advice to those plan participants who want it, and complements the in-depth investment education we're already providing," Montgomery added.
