The jury is still out, but a solid argument exists for immersion in an area of the country increasingly dedicated to the New Economy. An Internet analyst for T. Rowe Price says that the "information you pick up at the dry cleaner, Saturday soccer practices and the grocery aisle is arguably as valuable as what you read on the tape." Of the over twenty (and more everyday) fund companies with Internet funds out there, only two are currently managed from the San Francisco area. Chase-Fleming merger could cause fund mergers From CBS MarketWatch The recent announcement of the Chase Manhattan and Flemings merger will almost certainly affect the two companies respective mutual funds, in particular Chase's international funds. Although the companies are currently staying mum about any merger plans, it's probable that some of the existing funds have overlapping investment objectives -- stay tuned.
