SSRM Names CEO


Richard S. Davis, 54, is taking over as president and chief executive officer for State Street Research & Management Company (SSRM). His appointment was announced today by SSRM and MetLife and is effective November 1. He replaces interim CEO Jeffrey J. Hodgman, who rejoins MetLife as executive vice president. Hodgman has been interim CEO since last May.

Davis will report to Gary A. Beller, MetLife senior executive vice president and general counsel, who is responsible for the investment management business at MetLife.

David was most recently senior vice president, fixed income investments since 1999. In that position he was responsible for the firm's $110 billion fixed income portfolio. He is also an eight year veteran of J.P. Morgan Securities and J.P. Morgan Investment Management, where his responsibilities included global fixed income sales management risk management and product development for the firm's money management division. He also held successive management positions for 19 years at First Boston Corporation, where he led sales, trading and research for all fixed income products as a member of the firm's management committee.
