Thursday, December 6, 2001 Mutuals.com Hunts Distribution Mutuals.com is in talks with additional fund distribution platforms as it broadens the distribution of its fund-of-fund's family. The firm had distributed its five Generation-Wave funds directly through an internal sales force. It has now added the funds to Vanguard Brokerage, CSFBDirect and Ameritrade. The firm's five funds use a proprietary screening system to select funds in which to invest. Each of the funds is tailored to a different risk profile. Mutuals.com's added value is to assess shareholders objectives and recommend from among the family of funds. "Now that our 5 fund of funds are available to the general public, I can leverage my time to serve the masses, rather than one client at a time," explained Brian Bull, senior financial advisor. "It's important to me that a large number of people realize the benefits of using a systematic, no-load investing program." Mutuals.com was founded with eight years ago with the strategy of building a fund supermarket based on distribution through telephony. Its name -- 800-Mutuals -- was inspired by the model provided by 800-Flowers. The firm then migrated that model to the Web and changed its name to Mutuals.com. More recently the firm shifted its emphasis to its fund selection process. The new Generation-Wave funds were created to leverage that process. Author Harry Dent assisted the firm in developing the investment model for the funds. Printed from: MFWire.com/story.asp?s=27106 Copyright 2001, InvestmentWires, Inc. All Rights Reserved |
