Schwab Taps New Chief Marketing Officer


Charles Schwab has appointed Jody Bilney as executive vice president and chief marketing officer, a spokesperson with the firm told the MutualFundwire.com. The company has hired outside the industry with Bilney, who is a veteran of Verizon Communications.

Bilney will join Schwab officially in mid-July and will direct strategy for all of the company's brand, marketing and corporate communications activities. She will report to president and co-ceo David S. Pottruck; she will also be on the company's eight-member executive committee. Her post is a newly created one. "The new position will help promote advice capabilities to prospective clients," stated the spokesperson.

At Verizon, Bilney directed the company's worldwide brand and marketing communications activities. Prior to that, she served as president of Verizon's Consumer Markets enterprise. Bilney joined GTE, one of Verizon's predecessor companies, in 1994 after 10 years at DowBrands, Inc.
